Hello, my name is Richard Wechsler and I am a very active 60 year old father of 5 and grandfather of 7. This has not always been the case. In 2004 I injured my back while working in the garage. I awoke during the night in severe pain and unable to get out of bed. My wife called an emergency medical unit and I was transported to the hospital. I spent 2 days in the hospital on pain medication and muscle relaxants. Upon release from the hospital, a friend recommended I make an appointment to see Dr. Sandra Carrell at Alamo Heights Chiropractic. Dr. Carrell set up an appointment immediately and my wife drove me to her office. I could hardly walk without assistance and became dizzy and disoriented during the visit. Dr. Carrell and her staff were efficient, understanding and immediately began treatments that reduced the pain and dizziness. I began office visits 2-3 times a week and my injured back began to improve drastically.
In a very reasonable period I was active again and improving every week. However, in 2005 my surgically repaired right knee began to fail and I had a complete knee replacement. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and in physical therapy for another 3 weeks. While in the hospital I began having serious stomach problems and tests revealed I had a hiatal hernia and two other hernias on the walls of my stomach. Surgery was scheduled and I spent a week in the hospital and 5 weeks recovering from surgery.
Throughout this time my back and neck would cause me pain due to walking on crutches, walkers, or attending physical therapy sessions. However, I continued to be treated by Dr. Carrell and her staff and they made sure the problems were treated effectively and immediately. After recovering from the surgeries I continued treatments at Alamo Heights Chiropractic regularly going from 3 times a week to about once a month. This office of highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals has developed treatment and exercise programs for me that addressed all problems and prevented others. Additionally, prior to all of these problems I was involved in both golf and bowling.
In my youth I began bowling and competed at a high level. However, back and knee problems limited my participation and kept me from higher level competitions. Currently I am playing golf pain free and bowling with averages from 206 to 213 in league and tournament competition. I have had one of the highest averages in all 3 leagues and received numerous awards for high average, high games and series. I am forever grateful to everyone at Alamo Heights Chiropractic for their professionalism and courtesy. They are all friendly, helpful and truly concerned for the care and welfare of their patients.
